Heating with heat pumps in collective systems is rapidly gaining importance within the energy transition. Instead of individual installations per home, heat is generated centrally and distributed via a shared network. Examples include applications in apartment blocks, care homes or neighbourhood-based heat networks. A heat pump extracts heat from the environment – such as the air, ground or water – and brings it up to a usable temperature. In collective systems, this can be achieved more efficiently thanks to economies of scale and a more stable usage profile.
